Distinguishing Features and Characteristics
Ranek is leanly built, but strong, as befitting his Rihannsu heritage. His hair is cut short, in the traditional fashion, and his expression is often studious. But he lacks the suspicious nature of so many of his race, believing it to be a detterent to real accomplishment.

Ranek is a man of many layers. He moves quietly, and prefers to stay in the background, listening and observing where others act. He is organized, attentive to detail, and unflappable. He seems like someone who doesn't care much if people like him, more that things are done in the correct manner.
Background
Ranek grew up in Rel'enak Province. He was a quiet boy, not often engaging in the streetfights or sporting events of other youths around him. Not much is known about Ranek's personal life… he has few friends from Rel'enak, or the Academy. He was betrothed to a woman in his early twenties, but rarely speaks of it.
He was groomed for his father's business, a shipping company, based in ch'Rihan but operating on many of the outer rim colonies, achieving high standards academically throughout his life. He worked for his father for many years, before enlisting in the Romulan Navy in 2398, completeing his d'talla and enrolling in the Imperial Academy in 2403, graduating four years later. After a year on the SES Ruanek, he was assigned to S'Task as her operations officer.
